To the teen magazine. I have been given this task, in relation to what happened in South Afrika during the Apartheid. Apartheid lasted form 1948 to 1994. I hope you will read my views on it.
The Dark Time for South Afrika Nelson Mandala
Apartheid was a dark time for South Afrika. During Apartheid the issue was totally separation between races. People become classified in racial groups - black, white, colored and Asian. It was necessary to separate the different races, so the white people would have more power and lead the society. The white people had better conditions then the, black, colored, and Asian. Especially the black population group, was violently suppressed. White and black people went to different schools and universities and had different beaches, buses and medical services. The government forced the black people to live on the farms. The farms were areas of the country that the government made into “homeland” for black people. The government said, that Black people would have a better life as farmers in the countryside, but the real reason was to remove them from the cities. The government did many uncomfortable things against the black people. It was a dark time for the black people and to think about it makes me so angry. How can people be so mean, that they define their equals and their values by the color of their skin.
