Introduction

Our subtopic is apartheid because the inhabitants of South Africa were controlled by the racial discrimination, and it is very interesting to see how and why it changed. Nelson Mandela fought against the apartheid, and he became president of South Africa. The political party who fought for equal power and human rights ANC had a big part of the end of the white ruled government and apartheid.

What is apartheid?

Apartheid means keeping the races apart. By the Africans it was called “separate development”. It actually meant a whole series of new laws which were based on racial discrimination and prejudice against the Africans. Apartheid was becoming the law and the land. The Whites were created to rule and the Black ones to serve the rulers. At that time South Africa were distributed into three categories. The categories were Blacks, Whites and Coloured, so it was only their skin, which decided which group they belonged to.
