Good morning. My name is [NAVN A], and I am a student at London School of Economics. I am very grateful to have been invited here to give my take on social media and social responsibility. First, I am going to briefly outline the social media Facebook and the app’s handling of advertisements. Then I will move on to an analysis of what dilemmas advertisers and social media face. And finally, I will try to discuss reactions and possible solutions to the dilemmas and sum up the main points.

Social media plays a major role in our society, shaping the norm of how to behave. Facebook is a well-known social media site where millions of photos and posts are posted daily. In addition to these posts, we often see advertisements and ads plastered on our Facebook. Because the app is so popular and so many things are posted, not all posts are analyzed to conclude whether they exceed Facebook's guidelines. The media also states: "Systems to identify and remove hate speech have failed to work as effectively." Therefore, you may come across posts that contain racism, threats, crime, fraud, self-harm, offensive content and many more things. Around these posts you will also see corporate advertisements. The fact that this content takes place on Facebook is frightening because it shows that social media prioritizes money, views, and profit, rather than showing respect and stopping all the hate that is flourishing around. Facebook does not take responsibility for these actions because they make billions of dollars from the advertisements.
