Tangled, is a story based on the fairytale ‘Rapunzel’. The movie is about a girl named Rapunzel, who was born into a royal family. The queen was very sick during her pregnancy and needed a miracle to survive. The royal family heard that there was a flower, which had magical, healing powers. The flower was kept in the forest by an elderly woman, called Gothel, who used the flower's powers, to keep herself looking young. Soldiers from the kingdom went to bring back the flower to the castle, so they could heal the queen. Gothel was enraged by this, and she was determined to bring it back. When Rapunzel was born, the flower’s powers had transferred to her, through her hair, and when Gothel found this out, she decided to bring back the princess, so she could keep her forever. One night, Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel, and took her to a tall tower, hidden in the forest. She kept her there for several years, with only a chameleon, Pascal, to keep her company. Since Rapunzel was only eighteen, she didn’t know better than to believe that Gothel was her mother, and that she only kept her in the tower, because she wished her the best. Every year, on the same day, lanterns rose over the kingdom, which she could see from her window. She believed that it was stars and was amazed by these. But what Rapunzel didn’t know was, that the lanterns rose every year on her birthday - as a symbol of hope, that she would return to her real parents - The king and queen. One day, a man named Flynn escaped from the kingdom with a stolen crown, by the help of his two partners in crime. The princes’ crown. He sought shelter in Rapunzel’s castle. She was frightened, and hadn’t seen another person, besides Gothel, for many years. Rapunzel knocks Flynn out, and hides him in a closet, and when he woke up, she had tied him to a chair, using her long hair. She had taken the crown that he brought. She explains to Flynn that she wants to see the ‘stars’ and if he wants his crown back, he has to take her to them. She talks Gothel into going to go get a gift, and to take the long road, which took 3 days. And as soon as she left, Rapunzel and Flynn crawled out of the castle, to go see the stars.
