Analyse af 'Jaws' roman og filmatisering

Jaws is a novel written by Peter Benchley, and Steven Spielberg has made a film adaptation of the book. In the novels first chapter we hear about a fish, a man and a woman, the woman and the man want to go swimming in the dark night, but it is only the woman who ends up in the water, because the man is drunk and collapses on the beach. The themes in this interpretation of Jaws are the unknown, anxiety, horror, and danger. The unknown because we are aware of there is something in the water, but we don’t know what kind of fish it is, anxiety is shown when the fish bites the woman’s leg, and she gets the feeling that she is not alone in the water. Danger is in the moment where the woman can feel the fish is getting closer to her again and horror because we can see that she gets hurt and ends up dying. In the first chapter of the novel there is a feeling of something is wrong but it’s exciting and the desire to find out even more is great, why is it that the human beings are so fascinated by the deep ocean and shark filled water?
