The story Brokeback Mountain is a novel written by Annie Proulx and it’s made into a Golden Globe and Oscar winning movie.
The novel is about two cowboys Ennis del Mar and Jack Twist who meet on Brokeback Mountain in 1963. They strike up an emotional homosexual acquaintance during a cold winter on Brokeback Mountain. As they separate their lives, they become involved with marriages, children and jobs. They reunite for brief liaisons on camping/fishing trips over 20 years.
The lead roles are played by Jack Gyllenhaal and Heath ledger.
Jack Twist (Jack Gyllenhaal) comes from Montana. His father is a bull rider, but he hasn’t taught him any riding. Jack Twist dropped out of school when he was young and he loves rodeo. Jack meets a rodeo girl, marries her and has a son with her.
Ennis del Mar (Heath Ledger) comes from Sage near Utah. He is reared by his older brother and sister, because his parents died in a car accident. Ennis is a country boy and did like Jack, dropped out of school. Ennis is engaged to Alma and he marries her when their job on Brokeback Mountain is done - he has two daughters with her.
