A Christmas Carol: karakterudvikling og filmatisering

The book that the character Ebenezer Scrooge belongs to is called A Christmas Carol. In this book there are 5 staves, and throughout the staves Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a transformation in his character. In the first two staves, Ebenezer Scrooge is a very cold, bitter, and grumpy old man. He is so frugal and unempathetic that he does not even want to give back to the poor, even though he has far too much money to spend in his lifetime. Throughout the story Scrooge meets ghosts who teach him to be a kinder and better man, and by the fifth stave Ebenezer is a completely different person. He does not only give his money back to the poor people, he also gives his time back to poor people. This character development within the 5 staves is what makes A Christmas Carol a true classic. In this extract Scrooge is presented a jolly man, with affection for Christmas, and someone who enjoys happiness.
