Summary and review of 'Holes'

The book is called “Holes”, and the author is Louis Sachar.

It is about Stanley Yelnats who found a very expensive pair of shoes on the street, that he wanted take with him home. He shouldn’t do that because a famous person owned them, and the police officers was, trying to find the thief. When they found Stanley, they thought he stole the shoes, so they arrested him. Stanley could choose between if the wanted to go to jail or to Camp Green Lake. He had never been to a camp, so he got sent to the camp. It was called Camp Green Lake because it was by a big lake, but that was many years ago. Now it was just a big field with sand and nothing else. Before Stanley went to the lake, he talked with his family about the curse that they got from his great-great grandfather. When he got to the lake, he met Mr. Sir who can decide basically everything that happens at the camp. He got some ugly clothes that he should use when they were digging holes. That is what they're doing on the camp. Believe it or not. They had to dig a hole every day just to see if they could find anything expensive. Stanley met Mr. Pendanski who was younger than Mr. Sir, and it was looking like he was the sweet one of them. He then found out who he was sleeping with, X-Ray, Squid, Magnet, Armpit, Zigzag and Zero. They all have nicknames at the camp. The next day all the campers went to the field to dig holes. If they found something expensive, they would get the rest of the day off. The boys were mad at Stanley for no reason. After only one day everyone will have blisters all over their hands, but that will go away after some time when you get used to dig holes. Zero never said anything but Stanley somehow made him talk a lot. One day Zero got into a fight with Mr. Pendanski and hit him with a shovel. He then ran away, and no one found him. 4 days later Stanley ran away too, and he found Zero! They were on the hot fields for some time nearly dying because of the heat and no water. Finally, they found their way back to the camp and Mr. Sir got arrested.
