Characters: In the movie we met Neil as the main character, we also met his friends the romantic Knox Overstreet, the overachiever Richard Cameron, his best friends Steven Meeks and Gerard Pitts and the rebellious Charlie Dalton. The English teacher John Keating aka, the captain and he teach the class in poems.
Apply the Hollywood Model:
Teaser: where we are in the church at the school, and some of the older students plays on a bagpipe and when they arrived with a banner with the schools rules wrote on it.
Elaboration: It takes place in Neil´s room.
Point of no return: where Mr. Keating tells the students about the DEAD POET’S SOCIETY and when Neil finds the book in which “the captain” has wrote a poem with a message hidden inside the poem.
Conflict escalation: Neil´s dad arrives to the school, because he does not want Neil be a part of an act.
Climax: It takes place when Neil´s dad bring him home from the act and it is here when Neil decides to commit suicide.
Resolution: When they are at the office, because they have to sign a paper because the rector want to sack John Keating.
Setting: the movie takes place on a boarding school only for boys in the northeast US. The settings through the movie is more like a “boy movie”, they do what boys did at that period the movie supposed to describe. For instance, tearing pages out, of their books, because Mr. Keating said to them “you shall think for yourself and you shall never listen to clever doctors because they will never feel what you are feeling when you read these poems”.
