Battery Park, New York: historie og monumenter

For more than 200 years the Battery Park has been a part of New York, even before Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty.

Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan and have lovely view to the Statue Of Liberty

Although its role has changed, people from around the world still visit Battery Park for a view of the city's past.

Memorial monument from the terror attack against World Trade Center on Sept 11, 2001. The Sphere was standing in a fountain outside the entrance to WTC as a monument for world peace,

but it was almost destroyed, you can see how the rocks from WTC have hit it.

but they putted it together again as a memory of all the firemen and civilians that died that day.

Sculptor Luis Sanguino's "The Immigrants" celebrates the diversity of New York City and the struggle of immigrants in this heroic-sized bronze figural group. The sculpture depicts figures of various ethnic groups and eras, including an Eastern European Jew, a freed African slave, a priest, and a worker. Standing together, the members are connected through their pose. The rough surface of the bronze not only accentuates the extreme emotion, but generalizes the features allowing them to represent no individual in particular.
