Martin Luther King, Jr., was born in Atlanta, Georgia at noon on January the 15th, 1929. He spend his childhood in a highly religious black middle class home. He lived there with his older sister, Willie Christine, his younger brother Alfred Daniel, his grandmother, Mrs Jenny Williams and his parents, Martin Luther King, Sr., and Alberta Williams King.

Martin played always with the grocer’s two sons, who lived near Martins house.

One day the boys were not outside, so Martin went to their house to ask why they weren’t outside. The boys’ mother told Martin that his friends wouldn’t play with him anymore. And the reason was that they were white and Martin was black.

That was a special incident in Martins childhood, which became important for him later in his life.

After Martin graduated from Crozer in 1951 with an A in average, he entered Boston university in the fall of 1951, to study his doctorate in theology.

Martin met Coretta Scott in February, 1952. Coretta was studying music at the New England Conservatory of music. She had a beautiful voice and she was a smart young woman.

Martin and Coretta were in love. So in June, 1953, they got married in Alabama, on the front lawn of the Scott’s house. Martin an Coretta got four children.
