Martin Luther Kings background:
Martin Luther King (Junior) was born the 15. Of January 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia.
He was named after his Father. Martin had a sister and a brother.
Martin’s father (called ‘’Daddy King’’) was a banker, he was also a minister at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. King Daddy was a very important person in the black community.
The family’s life in Atlanta was comfortable, although he met racism every day.
Martin went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, when he was fifteen. Martin’s father wanted Martin to become a minister, but Martin wanted to help the black community and he wanted to become a doctor, a lawyer or something like that.
Martin decided to become a minister later.
In 1948 Martin was ordained as a Baptist Minister. He was only nineteen when preached his first ceremony at his father’s church in Atlanta. The people who heard Martin’s preach, knew right away that he was a good preacher.
