The novel “Stone Cold” is about a boy named Link who becomes a homeless in the streets of London, due to disagreements with his stepfather. He becomes friends with a streetwise homeless named Ginger, but one day he disappears and Link gets very worried. He misses him a lot and feels alone until he meets a pretty young girl, Gail. In the meantime, a man who calls himself Shelter has killed Ginger a long with several other homeless. Link gets a tip from a guy who has seen Ginger on the afternoon where he vanished. Link and Gail start keeping an eye on the old man who they believe holds the answer to Ginger’s disappearance.
The mystery is solved as Shelter tries to murder Link in his house, where all the bodies are hidden under the floor.
At the end Link discovers, to his disappointment, that the girl he is in love with (Gail) is working as an undercover journalist.

The novel is a children’s story. Not for small children, but for teenagers. You can see that in the language, first of all. It is slang and very down-to-earth. That makes a teenager feel comfortable reading it and I think for many, makes it easier to relate to the story.
