Resumé af filmen 'Billy Elliot'

Billy is 11 years old. Billy and his family lives in a very little old house, in a very poor area. The family is: Billy, his dad, his big brother and his old grandmother. Billy´s dad and big brother is miners. Billy goes home to look after his grandmother. The grandmother is forgetful and she can´t live alone. The family is very poor, and the father and big brother is in the middle of a strike against the closing of mines. Billy goes to boxing. He is not happy when he´s boxing, and it is not him who has chosen to go to it. It´s his father who said that he must go for it. One day when he is down training, he sees that in the other end of the room there is a team, who is dancing ballet. He thinks that ballet is very interesting, and he must try it. When he tried to practice ballet once, he realizes that it is ballet he will go for. Boxing is not attracts him. He´s only go for it, because his father said that he must. But it costs money to go to the ballet, and the family is poor enough in advance, when the father and big brother are on strike. There is only enough money, for that he can go for the boxing. He decides to go behind his father's back with ballet training. He will use the money he has got to pay boxing to pay for ballet. Billy is very impressive to dance ballet. Billy has the right skills to be a very good ballet dancer, and Mrs. Wilkinson promise Billy, that he will be a good dancer. But a day Billy´s boxing trainer surprise himself over that Billy is not meet to the training. Therefore he searches for his father to get an explanation. But when the coach is coming home to them, and ask why Billy not meet up for the training, becomes Billy´s father confused. Because he still give Billy money to pay for the boxing, and Billy is still go to training. But Billy hasn’t said something about the Ballet. When the father finds out, that Billy goes to the ballet instead of boxing, he will be very angry. Billy will not be allowed to go for the ballet more now, when his father has find out of it. Mrs. Wilkinson is trying to get the father to see a reason. But there is no way. She can´t persuade the father, to give Billy a chance for the ballet. But Mrs. Wilkinson says to Billy that he don´t must give up. She have looked that Billy is very good to dance ballet. She proposes Billy that they can train ballet secret for his father. That’s what they do and Billy is being better and better. But a day where Billy is train ballet, with his gay friend Michael, the father is coming. Billy shows his father what he can, but the father is still in doubt. But when the time is going, Mrs. Wilkinson will have Billy to go on the Royal Ballet-school in London. The father is succumb and give Billy permission. The father is work a lot so he can get money to Billy so he can go to the ballet school in London. As the father and Billy finally come to London, and will be written in Billy as new dancer they are being rejected. So they drive home again with the bus. Billy is very angry, because he was not admitted to the school. But some days after there is coming a letter to Billy, which said that he was admitted to school all the same.
