This is a summary of the film “Billy Elliot” from 2000 directed by Stephen Daldry. It is about the boy, Billy Elliot, who is going to become a great ballet dancer. He lives in a mine-area in the northeast England, because his father and brother work in the pit. His mother is dead, and it is properly therefore his grandmother lives together with the rest of the family. Simultaneously the miners strike and the family does not have a lot of money, and that effects Billy a lot. Some few miners do not strike and work in the pit, and that makes excitement in the little mine-area. Billy is attempting to play boxing but in the meanwhile, he becomes more interested in ballet. Billy knows his father would dislike it and does anything to avoid the father to discover it. Meanwhile his best friend, Michael, who likes to be dress in female clothes, gets feeling for him, but Billy turns him down. His trainer Mrs Wilkinson finds early out his talent and wants Billy to auditions the English Royal Ballet School. However, that requires the fathers’ accept. Mrs. Wilkinson looks up the family, which not delights in the idea except the grandmother, who always has had the dream to be a famous ballet dancer. Nevertheless, the father becomes convinced after he has seen Billy’s talent and he even works against his principle for to get enough money to the ballet school.
