'In My Country' filmresumé

The movie starts with information from apartheid. Black people being tortured by white. Nielson Mandela says: Never, never more shall humans experience suppression. Christmas 1995 – the main character Anna’s hometown, there are thief’ and Anna’s brother Boetie shoots them in the leg, (he shoots a black man). The main character is a reporter, she has tree boys and a husband called Edward. Dumisani is the man who receives Anna and is a soundman, and Langston Withfield is a man from Washington Post. Langston, Dumi and Anna are on a meeting, in the start Anna and Langston disagree. The first night they are on a hotel called: Rhodes Place Hotel, and in the evening Anna and Langston are discussing. The next day, there is a meeting again (it could look like a trial case). Wives and mothers from the dead comes to convict the policemen who killed there husband or son – asks them why they killed them and the policemen has to tell the truth, because if I doesn’t, he can’t get amnesty. Langston takes out to one of the murders, that haven’t been charged yet. After the hearings they drives out to another town, where there is going to be hearings. In that town, there is a man who has been tortured with electrical shock and the murder tells about how he sat electrical shock to his genitals. After the hearings, Dumi, Langston and Anna stay in town to get a drink. That night they are sleeping at The Rutz – Anna, Dumi and Langston are sleeping in the same bed. Ubuntu means: Everyone is connected. Anna and Dumi make radio over the hearings. Later on there is a mother who is calling Anna, and says that she knows where the body of her daughter is. They found the body, and in the bag ground you can hear the man - who Langston is talking with – talking about how they killed her. Langston and Anna are having a fight, but they are getting interrupt by Dumi because Anna has to talk on the radio. There are new hearings with a white man, but Anna interrupts and is being weird. Then she and Langston end up sleeping together. The next day Anna takes home to her family and husband. Hearings the next day: a boy hasn’t sad a word since he saw her mother and father being killed. The boy gives the murder a hug, and forgives him. Langston and Anna drive up to Anna’s mother and father and sleeps there. Anna’s mother likes Langston and gives him a book. The next day to the hearings, it’s Anderson – the man who works on Anna’s family’s farm – there is telling his story. After the hearings he gives Langston he’s stick. Langston is with the man (Oberst De Jager) again, and Langston tries to kill him, but he can’t. Anna and Langston go to the torture prison: Boetold Farm in Krugeresburg. They found torture weapons. Oberst De Jager is going to curt to see if he can get amnesty, but he can’t, he is going to jail. Anna asks him how he could do it, and he says – ask your brother. Anna takes home to her brother and asks him how he could do it, and he says that he had to do it. He did it for the family. Then he asks her to leave, and se does – and after you can hear a shot, he had shot himself. To the funeral Anna’s mother tells Anna about a time then she was cheating on Anna’s dad, and se says: no more lies. The next day Anna goes home and tells her husband that se has slept with Langston, he gets very used. In the evening there is a big party, but Anna isn’t there. Dumi and Langston dances and have a lot of fun. When they gets outside Anna comes and gives Dumi a gift and says goodbye to them booth. The last thing she says is: My skin will never forget you. Dumi and Langston drives down a road, when they suddenly are surrounded. There are five to six black men, and they say that Dumi is an impimpi. Then a black man says: - you are soon going to meat your grandparents – and then he shots him. The last thing he says is: - forgive me. It all ends with that Langston is sitting on a plain, reading the book Anna’s mother gave him. And Anna is saying the words – forgive me, forgive me, forgive me.
