Describe the two physical settings - the river and the farmhouse - and include details such as nature, plants, temperature, light -dark, colours, various objects, how things feel etc.
The river was far from the kraal. It was one of the places, that Paulus and Thebedi could visit each other. Children could catch a leguan there. They played between mesh of old, eaten and white stinkwoods and Cape willow trees. This was a sign of happiness in the river. There were wild asparagus bushing up between the trunks, and prickly pear cactus sunken-skinned and bristly. There were also some prickly pears around the river. So the river was a place where they had experienced new, interesting things in nature. In the summertime there was a water flawing and the weather was very warm. Hence the children waded into the water and enjoyed the warm water. The river is concidered as a symbol of happiness and enjoyment of life. The sun is shining in summer, in a warm day so there is light and positive aspect of life in the river. There, two lovers could spend a lot of time together without thinking of theirs skin colour. So the river reminds freedom and sameness.
