Christmas celebration is an important event worldwide and New year Eve is an added event that makes the Christmas holiday more special and fun. Christmas is a Christian holiday, the celebration is for the birth of Jesus. People usuelly celebrate christmas at home between their familymembers and friends. Nowadays, christman has become a holiday more than a celebration at home and people prefer to visit holiday destinations rather than being at home.
The Danish Christmas
The danish way of celebrate christmas is different. It´s like a historical adventure. In Denmark, Christmas starts with advent which means “coming”, on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Eve. The first Sunday of advent, they star to decorate 4 candles with a wreath and 4 red ribbons. And as it is the first advent they lit one of the candle. The following Sundat the next candle is lit, one more each Sunday. This tradition is the first sign of Christmas, besides that there is a lot of decorations in shops and restaurants. Another way to know when the Christmas Eve is coming closer, it´s the Christmas calender. The calenders are made by paper filled with chocolate behind 24 small windows. The first day of December is the first day of the Christmas month, and it is therefore the day to start opening your Christmas calender. The people start to buy Christmas presents for friends and family when December at ones start which is an expensive jo among people. On December 13th, the Santa Lucia procession takes place. The children in the schools are always dressed in white and each of them carries a candle.
