Summary of “Spread your legs and smile”: The text is about Shashi Tharoor who has been a frequent flier since he was 6, he describes the security at airports as before and after the 9/11. He describes the security before the episode as good, convenient and fast. But after the 9/11 everything went terribly wrong, they started to invade his “personal space” and check everything he has with him, for example he has a tongue cleaner that’s an Indian hygienic device that’s U-shaped and made of stainless steel they thought it was some kind of weapon, and they also tried to air compress one of his books to see if it would blow up. Even one of his colleagues have been checked like that, his son is handicapped and flies with an oxygen tank, they wanted to try it so they would be sure that it wasn’t toxic, even though the boy was breathing from it.

Give an outline of the various attitudes to airport security in the texts:Spread your legs and smile:The writer of this texts attitude is actually kind of bad because he thinks that they are over doing the security at airports and he feels violated because the ask to everything he got with him, he feels sorry for the 6 year olds who flies these days. Attendants question ground security:The writer thinks that there isn’t enough staff at the airport, he writes that it is way too easy to get to the high security places you only need a magnetic card and some places you need a pass code , there should be much more security at an airport after his opinion.Fear Of Flying: An Israeli Look At U.S. Air Safety:The writer in this text complains about the low security in the American airport, and says that there are not enough staff at the airport, she also compares it to an airport in Israel were there are all kinds of check-in and check-out-points, and there are much more personnel than in the U.S.A.
