1. Summary of text 3, ”I´m donating my kidney to a stranger”:

“I´m donating my kidney to a stranger” is an article written by Richard Wilson and published in “The Sunday Times” in 2008. In the article Wilson interviews a Scottish woman named Paula MacKinnon, who has decided to donate her kidney to a person she doesn´t know. Paula´s mother suffered kidney failure, but Paula and her mother´s blood were not compatible, so Paula has decided to donate her kidney to another person, a person she doesn´t even know. Paula thinks that the risks of the operation are incredibly small, compared to the good she can do by donating her kidney, she is doing it only to help somebody else. She would not do it, if it would harm herself though. There are only 11 other persons in the UK that had donated their kidney that way, to a completely stranger, as far as Paula knows.

Text 1, “We must change the organ donation system”, blog written by Denis Campbell, published in “The Guardian, 2008:

The organ donation system is not good enough in the UK. Denis Campbell argues that the system used in many other European countries with “presumed permission” should be adopted. Presumed permission means that if a citizen has not refused to donate his organs away, but neither given the permission – the organs can be used. That way much less people will die, because they can´t get a donor.
