The Irish people are known for their great hospitality and warmth. The Irish traditions of folk music and dance are also known all over the world. And these very rhythmic lyrics have given the Irish a good reputation. Most people think of the Irish as a peaceful people who live in happiness and harmony. However the sky isn’t as cloudless as it appears.
Religious differences, ethnic conflicts, racism and discrimination have as long as you look back in history always been an issue and the cause of many great wars and clashes. In my presentation I have chosen to take up this topic using Ireland as my point of attack.
In 1921 Ireland was split into two due to many religious conflicts and since the separation there have been many violent incidents between the two populations and the conflict is steaming as we speak.
One of the extreme groups is the institution IRA. They have taken an important and central role in the fight against the splitting. Who are they? What do they want and why? These are some of the questions I have tried to answer trough my research and I will now dug into my outcome and enlighten you thereby.
