Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2nd, 1869. He was born in Porbandar, a small sea town in the west of India. His family were simple people. But when Gandhi died in 1948 he had become “the father of the nation” and people in India and throughout the world were sad.

Gandhi’s father was a very important man for the country. He worked for the maharajah. Gandhi’s family was large. And lot of people lived in the family house. When someone was sick in the family house then Gandhi’s mother Putlibai looked after them, and she also always cocked for all of them. There were 2 important things in Putlibais life. Her family and her religion, Putlibai didn’t come out so much she were inside the house all most all of the time. Because she wanted to help the farmers, when it rains too much then it was bad for the farmers. Because then the fields where full of water and nothings grows up there.

Gandhi was seven years old when he and his family moved to Rajkot it was a bigger town in India then Porbandar where he lived before. There he began to study. So he went to the high school. The lessons at the high school were in English so it was hard for Gandhi to study. Because he where not good at English. Then some years later, when Gandhi was thirteen he got married. He got married with a beautiful girl named Kasturba. Kasturba was a simple girl, who could not read or write. Gandhi wants to be her teacher but she doesn’t agree with him and the want to learn to write or read because the other Indians girls don’t do it to. So he and Kasturba often quarrelled. Then they did not speak for days. About this time Gandhi started to eat meat. He eat meat at about one year and he don’t tell his family that he eat. When he was at home with his mother he did not eat. And he also began to smoke. But he must have money to bye cigarettes so he began to steal. Then one day he thought that he was becoming a bad man. So he told his father it. And that day his father was ill, and later that day he died.
