I want to write about Gandhi, because he was the most important man in the history of India. I think he is very brave because he fought for independence from the British Empire.
Gandhi in England and South Africa
At the age of 18, Gandhi went to England to take a education and become a lawyer. He wanted to be like an Englishman and wear English clothes.
Gandhi’s first job as a lawyer was in South Africa. Gandhi had a first class ticket. In the train Gandhi was ask to move to third class becouse he was black, but he refused to move, so he got kicked off the train.
Gandhi was against that Indian people had to carry papers to prove who they were. So he burned his papers in front of the police, and got arrested.

In 1915, Gandhi moved back to India. Gandhi lived in a Ashram. An Ashram is a simple farm or a village. A lot of people live there without a leader. Each person does every job.
In the town og Amritsar there was a protest meeting in a square with 20.000 people. Suddenly a British officer came with a hundred soldiers and starting to shoot people. Every one tried to get away but 1516 were shot and 379 og them were killed.
