Maggie and Frank’s relationship is not so good in the beginning of the movie. Maggie have just started practicing boxing, and she is looking out for a trainer. She would like Frank to be her trainer however he is not really into that idea. After some time Frank change his mind and he start train her, then they start having a better relationship, and Frank is more open to her. In the end when he pulls the plug he starts crying witch really shows how he like her, and worry about her.
Maggie’s goal in life is to be the best girl boxer, and get a lot of money. The only thing she likes to do I boxing, so if she can’t do that anymore she don’t have anything to live for. That must also be the only reason why she wants Frank to pull the plug in the end of the movie.
Frank does not want to train her because she is a girl, and he doesn’t train girls probably because they never will be as good as the boys will, or just because he is a male chauvinist. His major rule in boxing is to practice new stars and get them to the top of a career.
