Happy Birthday, 1951 The short story”Happy Birthday” is written by Kurt Vonnegut. It’s about a young boy and an old man. The old man is supposed to be a father figure for the boy, because a refugee woman left him to the old man when he was a baby, and never returned. After that, they have lived together for seven years with no documents with Nationality, Name and Birthday on the boy, because the old man didn’t know who he is or where he comes from. The story takes place in 1951 either during the Second World War or after.
