The road stretched on and on. Not a soul in sight. I looked around and the barren landscape stared back at me. The heat was oppressive. How long had I been going? Hard to say, but I was determined not to lose my nerve. I could not stop thinking about what had happened. My head was spinning. There was no point going back to the car. I picked up my bag again and went on.
I was walking on the road, and it was late at night. I looked at the unaffected clouds. They looked like they were spinning around in circles. Even though it was night, I still could see the clouds as clearly as if it was day. I knew that somewhere 4 hours away from here, my wife was looking for me. I hadn’t treated her very nice recently. Actually I’ve beaten her. And now I’m on an escape away from everything - away from my earlier life.
I’m an alcoholic, and one night I came home very drunk. My wife was awake and she was very angry. She freaked out, and asked me what the hell I was thinking about. I was not in the right mood for those conversations in that moment – so I decided to go inside my room. But she grabbed my shoulder, and said we weren’t finish yet. As a reflex I beat her, she fall to the ground, and began to cry. Then I realized what a jerk I really was, and I helped her up while I was giving her an apology.
