The film ”Billy Elliot” is about a boy and his choice between his dreams and his families expectations. Billy lives in Everington, near Durham in England. It is 1984 and the miners’ strike is on. Billy’s father and his brother is miners, according to them is this how a man should be. So that is why Billy is going to boxing. But Billy doesn’t like boxing, instead he likes ballet, but he doesn’t tell his father, because he know that it isn’t a sport for men, only for girls.
Christmas Eve Billy is having fun with his friend Michael. Then his father enter. First Billy is just standing, then he dance for his father, and his father sees how talented his son is. This is the point of no return, and Billy know that this is his only chance to convince his father for ballet. So he takes the chance, and in the end of the movie, he makes his father and brother proud.
Billy Elliot is 11 years old. He lives in Everington with his father, his brother and his senile grandmother, his mother died years ago. It is a family tradition to go to boxing, but Billy likes ballet. He go to ballet on the sly. In the end he become a good ballet dancer.
