Analyse af filmen 'Billy Elliot'

Billy Elliot is a boy who an amateur boxer. But his dream was to become a professional ballet dancer. Billy´s mom is dead. Billy lives with his brother Tony, father James and his grandmother. Billy’s brother and father work in the mines but they strike. His best friend, Michael is gay, but that didn’t change their friendship.

Billy’s dad (James) and granddad was boxer and James really wants Billy to become like him. So Billy was being taken to the gym where there was boxing training. But during the boxing training, Billy saw a ballet class in the other side of the gym. Billy becomes interested in the ballet, and secretly he is dancing ballet, but tells his dad his boxing, so he isn’t disappointing him. In the meantime Tony was being arrested. This is why Billy misses a big audition to the Royal Ballet School. His ballet teacher ballet teacher Mrs. Wilkinson goes to Billy´s house to tell his father about the missed chance. But Billy´s dad doesn’t care, because he is afraid of people should think Billy is a poof (homosexual). Almost in the end of the movie, Jackie sees Billy dance, and he understands Billy´s passion for ballet, and takes him to another audition in London. Billy is accepted and moves to London.
