Racism History about racism Between 1450 and 1850 were at least 12 million Africans shipped from Africa across the Atlantic Ocean to the notorious Middle Passage, primarily to colonies in North America, South America and the West Indien. Eighty percent of these kidnapped Africans were transported during the 18th century. Ten percent to twenty percent of them died on the route.
