A dark shadow turns up on the road that leads to the house. The trees along the road are waving from side to side. I’m standing in the window, staring at the thing that moves closer and closer. I want to move away from the window, to make sure, that no one can see me. Something keeps me by the window. Something inside of me doesn’t want to step aside, while a part of me just wants to run away and hide. I stay. The light in my room is turned off, it’s all dark. I follow the shadow, and observe every move it makes, I’m not letting my eyes off it, and I see how it slowly turns into a humans shape.

The doorbell rings, and I can hear my father opening the door. He says something, and a male’s voice answers. I can hear them talk, they are discussing back and forth. In the beginning my father won’t let the stranger in, but after all he lets him in, and I can hear the big heavy tree door closing behind them. I’m standing on the big stairs, hiding. I feel the carpet under my bare feet, it is red just like the sofas, and fits perfectly to the rest of the old furniture. I can’t see how the stranger looks, but I’m too afraid to go down stairs. We have now been living in this old house for about half a year. I have not been outside the ground a single time, and I’m not leaving the house more than necessarily. I like spending time in my room through the day times, in the evening I spend time with my father. I really like him, but he is also the only person I have in my life. We share everything, except one thing. There is a room in the further back of our manor. That room is the only thing my father and I don’t share. I sneak down the stairs, and further on until I stand outside the door to the living room. The door is ajar and I quickly catch a glimpse of the stranger. I had imagined him big and dark, with broad shoulders and a rough face. Instead I see a slight man with a gloomy face. I don’t understand how such a little man can have such a deep voice.
