David Cameron:’’ Why the Archbishop of Westminster is wrong about welfare ‘’.

The text was written by David Cameron, the Prime Minister of the UK, and he writes about why he disagrees with the Archbishop of Westminster’s critique of Britain’s government’s welfare reforms. The Archbishop made 3 major points in his critique, and David Cameron goes over all of them, and explains his own point of view, and why he disagrees with him. He clarifies, that he thinks that the church should be commenting on politics, but it should not stop him from commenting back. Firstly he explains that the old welfare system in many cases paid more money to people in benefits, rather than to people working as normal. And for that reason, they had to change it, not only to save money, but also because it is the right thing to do. He also claims that the basic safety net still exists, because if you look at the statistics from the last election till now, you will see that the amount of help you will get is actually bigger than before. And lastly, the Prime Minister says that their welfare reforms do truly work, because the amount of workless households has gradually decreased, and is still decreasing.
