Summary: A true story, about James J. Braddock. He dropped out of school when he was fourteen. His older brother had nineteen professional fights. Braddock used to box with his older brother, Joseph. When they were fighting, he finds out that he accentually was good, so with his older brother like his trainer, he started to boxes seriously. When he was seventeen he started his amateur career, and had more than one hundred fights. Then he won, the New Jersey light-heavyweight and then the heavyweight amateur championships. James quit boxing after a fight on September 25, 1933. He brooked his hand, and haven’t afford for an operation. In the 1930’s he gets married with Mae fox, they were old friends, and happy for each other. They had three kids together, Rosy, Jay and Howard. They haven’t enough money so he started to work as a long-shore man, bartender, and laborer to get money. When his hand healed he started to boxes again. James manager, Joe Gould arranged a fight with heavyweight Corn Griffin, Braddock out boxed and outpunched Griffin with a third-round knockout. July 13th, 1935 a fight against Max bear. Bear trained very little, because he thought that Braddock was easy to knock out. But Braddock thought that winners could be beaten. Braddock had trained and trained, and he won the fight. He became a hero, to the people. He got the nickname “Cinderella man” By Damon Runyon. Damon mean that Braddock went from being broke and on joblessness to being a champion, like Cinderella went from sweeping the ashes to being princess.
