Angela's Ashes: Summary and Characterization

Frank and his family lives in USA, New York. In the year of 1945. Frank’s real name is Francis, but people call him Frank. He has three youngers brothers, Malachy and the twin brothers Eugene and Oliver. Their mother name is Angela and their dad name is Malachy. They also have a baby sister, Margarite, but she dies right in the start, short after she was born. The family is really from Ireland, so the move back to Ireland. There goes the father to the IRA office, to ask after money. But he gets kicked out because he asks for a glass beer. The family return to limerick and lives at their grandmother’s house, there does their aunt Aggie and uncle Pat. Oliver one of the twin brother dies, the family do not have enough to pay for the funeral. So, their grandmother pay for the funeral. Later dies the other brother too, Eugene, afterwards prey the two brothers and the father to god. The father goes out for the coffin to Eugene home, Frank goes out to find him and find him at a pub drinking beer on Eugene coffin. The mother Angela and her sons gets some new furniture at the St. Vincent social office, they get 2 used bets. Later do they get a new home but there is a problem there. On the street is there only 1 toilet and it is the street, so people at the street pee and take a shit in a pot, afterwards do they throw it down the street. The father, Malachy, get his first job at a cement factory at Easter. But when he gets his first pay cheque, does he go to a pub and drink for all the money, he comes drunk home late at the night, and the next day comes he late to work and get fired. In Franks class does the teacher, Mr. Benson, hold a little sermon and he gives a piece of newspaper I say that it is Jesus Kriste body. Frank is very interested in his friend Michey, because he known a lot about girls. At Frank’s first communion gives his grandmother breakfast, but Frank does not like it and vomit. When Frank gets older and more interested in girls, does him and some boys sneak into Quasimodo’s place to look at his sisters naked. Franks tries to become an altar because his family is poor does he not get in. The family gets a new baby and the granddad send some money, but the father use it on beer. Frank’s mother tells him to go out and find him, but when Frank find him decides he to tell his mother that he cut not find him. Unfortunately gets frank sick and takes to the hospital, he has something called typhus. At the hospital, Frank reads a lot of books by Shakespeare. When Frank gets back to school is he returning to fifth form, but Frank ride an essay so good that he gets promoted. The father Malachy goes to England to work on a factory. Meanwhile Frank gets a job, so the family can get some money, because the father is not sending any money. Frank work with coal and that is ruining his eyes and is close to getting blind. The father gets home for Christmas, but he is blue around his eyes because in England while he was drinking all the money up, he most had got in a fight and got beat up. The family gets kicked out because they broke the walls and then the landlord got angry. They move into Laman Griffin, their cousin, and as thanks does Frank pot of pie and enty it. Frank and Laman has a fight and Angela, the mother, goes up to Laman and don’t talk to Frank. Frank leaves the family and moves into Pat, meanwhile gets Frank a new job as a telegram boy. At his delivery tour, runs he into a young girl, Theresa Carmody, they have sex for the first time, unfortunately dies Theresa later and Frank is broken. Frank gets a new job where he is writing letters for Mrs. Finugan. The day Frank gets his first pint, gets he very drunk and returning to his mother’s home where he calls him a slot and slaps her. He feels very sorry and goes to the priest. The priest tells him that if he loves god and feels sorry for what he have done will he always be forgiven. One day the employer dies, Frank steals all her money and throw the book with all the depts. in the lake. Frank gets money enough to go to America. The family makes a farewell party and to celebrate Frank does they sing a song and drink. On board at the ship, sees Frank the American shores and his attention is drawn towards the Statue of Liberty.
