The Lord of the Rings The Lord of the Rings is a trilogy written by Tolkien. It consists of the three books: "The Fellowship of the Ring", "The two Towers" and "The King returns". Before Tolkien wrote the three novels, he wrote "The Hobbit", which explains how Gollum got the ring. The trilogy was made in to a film in 2001, instructed by Peter Jackson.
