About AfricaAfrica is the second largest continent in the world of the Earth’s seven continents. It covers about 30.330.000km, which makes it up about 22 percent of the world’s total land area.Africa has 840 millions of citizens (2005).The continent is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean Sea.Sudan, Republic of, republic in north-eastern Africa, the largest country of the African continent. Sudan has a total area of 2,505,800km.The smallest African country is The Seychelles covering an area of 453 km but Gambia is the smallest of the mainland African states, covering an area of 11,300km.Egypt's capital city, Cairo, is the largest city in Africa with an estimated 9.2 million population.Mount Kilimanjaro - (5895m/19,340ft) in Tanzania.The lowest is Lake 'Asal (153 m/502ft below sea level) in Djibouti.
Why is Africa poorThe main reason that Africa is so poor is that it had to start all over.Explaining; in the 17 Century- 19 Century, the Europe wanted African Slaves and, the rich African people traded their own citizens to the Europe’s. Although Africans and Arabs did trade slaves with each other. They saw slaves as human beings and gave them rights, like they are a dog.Europe saw all non-white (black people) peoples as “uncivilized”(Uciviliserede) and “savages”(vilde), they actually mean, that they were not human.So when Europe traded slaves for resources (gold -> stuff), the Africans never knew, that the euros thought that way.The Africans at the time were very well succeeded; it was a continent of thousands of kingdoms who got along. It was a well advanced land. So when the Europeans came to Africa and saw Africa was a well advanced continent, they started to use tactics to try and erase the Africa history.For example; The kingdom of Benin (also known as The Benin Empire was a colonial African state) was a thriving Kingdom (Blomstrende kongerige) until the British people came and saw the success and tried thereafter to get into the city and take it over (like they tried to do everywhere).The British people provoked (Provokerede) the Africans, they killed the people, stole ALL the gold and other valuable stuff. The worst thing is they burned the whole Empire to the ground. Everything was lost, ERASED.The same thing happened all over the thriving African Kingdoms.So if all the British stuff, didn’t happened at all. Maybe would Africa be one of the richest continents ever.
