Ellie is the main and the only character in Anna Hope’s short novel “A Gap of Sky.” She’s living in the big city, London, where she often goes out drinking and having fun with her friend. That seems to be the only thing she’s doing in her life. Getting drunk and taking drugs. In the big city Ellie is looking for freedom. She fells trapped, because of the many people whose rushing around in the streets. It’s chaotic, but in somehow Ellie sees a little glimpse of freedom in the air, a gap of sky. When she sees this gap she fells free, and wants to wash of the horrible feeling she has. Anna Hope is here creating a simile.
