Ernesto Rafael Guevara de la Serna (Che Guevara) was born June 14th 1928 in Rosario, Argentine. He grew up in a high middleclass/well of family with four younger siblings and his parents Ernesto Guevara Lynch, a civil engineer of Irish descent and Celia de la Serna, who came from a Spanish family. Both his mother and father were left-wing.
Already as a young boy he suffered from asthma, but in the years to come he learned how to control the attacks better, by doing sports and physical activities. The disease caused him a lot of troubles later in life.

In 1948 he began medical school at the University of Buenos Aires. While studying he twice travelled through Latin America on motorbike. Especially the second trip, which he spent with his old friend Alberto Granado, made a huge impression on him. He saw the bad conditions many people lived under. How large firms from USA controlled farm land and agriculture like colonies and got privileges like exemption from tax and monopoly status. Mostly the countries’ government were marked by corruption.
Che hadn’t been interested in politics before, but his new knowledge about the continent, made him taste blood. At the same time he read a lot of literature about Marxism and communism, an ideology he found fascinating.
