In the video from YouTube we here about Craig Venter who has invented a way to replace the genome of a simple bacteria with one that is laboratory made. In the beginning of the clip the news reporter talks about how this is a giant step in human history and in world of biology. Then Craig Venter is interviewed and he talks about his experiment. The video then goes on about how this is not just good news because this technology can also be used for unwanted purposes or simply cause a disaster if an experiment goes haywire. One of the persons interviewed elaborate on: if used in terror it can cause millions of death worldwide, this is also compared to a mouse virus once created in a laboratory that had a death rate of a 100% against mouse. This same technique could be used to change smallpox in to a more deadly form that wouldn't have a cure or vaccine. Another deathly outcome of this new invention is also formulated and that catastrophe is on a hole other level compared to a deathly virus. The catastrophe they talk about is if someone where to create a micro-organism that was e.g. suppose to clean the water but instead began making all water undrinkable, this could possibly release something much worse than any other event in the human history.
