Youngsters and boot camps

I have chosen this topic because many young people commit crimes, and because it’s a huge problem in both America and Denmark.

Fact:

Young criminals:

There are a lot of young criminals in America. It can be difficult to say the exact reason to crimes done by teens, in some cases teens are committing crimes because they’ve been born into a family with criminals, some also do crimes when they are poor and can’t afford what they need and want, and some in worst cases do crimes to get money for drugs or just for the thrill or they might also have some sort of psychological problems.

Boot camps:

Boot camps are modeled on military training camps and jails. There are 2 different kinds of boot camps. There are governmental boot camps, which are a part of the penalty system. In these camps they are trying to rehabilitate young criminals. And so, there are private boot camps, which mostly are for young people, who haven’t committed a real crime yet, but are on a sidetrack. In both types of camps, they are using a shock technique, which consists in scaring the youngsters, so that they keep away from committing crimes. The boot camp instructors are very dominant and are patronizing the convicts / youngsters.This is what one of the instructors one day said in an interview : "If I can't make a kid puke or piss in his pants on his first day, I'm not doing my job."
