Obesity is a major problem. Obesity can have many consequences fx. Bullying or not being able to do what you want because you weight too much. But who are we to blame? Is it the parents or maybe the schools?
Jamie Oliver’s new series, ‘Jamie’s School Dinners’ are focusing on the food in the UK schools. He’s trying to re-educate the children to eat fresh food and eat healthy. This is a hard task since the kids are not touching anything ‘green’ as the ‘dinner ladies’ say. But this is just making Jamie more determined.
The problem is that the schools are under-funded according to Jamie. They need to save money and many schools have decided that a place to save money is the school dinners. This means that they’re serving processed food instead of fresh food. So instead of fresh vegetables you get oven-ready junk food.
What the children do not understand is that when they eat unhealthy it will take them on a path. A path that can lead to obesity, heart diseases, diabetes or even cancer. This is why educating the children on this subject might also be a way to do it. Teach the children how to prevent getting into the unhealthy lifestyle and getting in the right direction.
