The value of celebrities and parents to teenagers is very different. There are both differences and similarities between the two. The influences the celebrities and the parents have on teenagers and the roles they play in the teenagers lives. It all plays a very important part in a teenagers life. They love both the celebrities and their parents, but the love and respect for the parents is usually hidden far behind the love and respect for celebrities.

Celebrities and parents have different influences on teenagers. Teenagers most often turn to celebritities for guidance in their everyday life. Teenagers look up to celebrities like they are the only ones to follow. They will do anything their favorite celebrity does even if they know it’s wrong. If the celebrities do it, the teenagers will do it. That is how the world works today. Many bad things come from the influence the celebrities have on teenagers such as low self-esteem. When a teenager follows what a celebrity does, it includes how they look. Many teenagers feel insecure about their bodies mostly because of the way celebrities are on tv and in magazines. Most of the celebrities hold standards that an average teenager just can’t live up to. Normal teenagers can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of jeans or buy a new house every month. Some celebrities can’t either, but most of them can. That makes the teenagers feel bad about themselves. Some teenagers might start blaming their families for not having enough money to live in total luxury. If it gets to that point, it is really out of control. Teenagers shouldn’t feel like they have to have the coolest stuff all the time. Yes, some can afford it, but most people can’t. When a teenager is at school, they look around and see everyone wearing the most expensive designer clothes, but what they don’t notice is all the people who aren’t wearing designer clothes just like themselves. There are far more people at a school wearing normal, affordable clothes than there are people wearing expensive designer clothes. Teenagers just don’t see it. They have gotten an idea, from celebrities, that they have to look their best at all times, but that isn’t true.
