Another theme is family, because throughout the short story we follow Leslie and her husband, and we get a look into their life as husband and wife. One of the other themes in this story The American dream, which in this specific story is not fulfilled, we get to see that, through the fact that Kevin is abusing Leslie, and they have no electricity.
