Konflikten mellem Irland og Nordirland

Northern Ireland and Ireland had been in many battles over hundreds of years. The main reason is religion. People fight for what they believe in, and they will not stop till their enemies surrender. The republic of Ireland is historically a Catholic country and an outsized majority of the Irish is Catholics. Many people in Northern Ireland are descendants of the original population of Ireland, and are also known as Catholics. However, the majority of Northern Ireland has ancestors who emigrated from countries as England and Scotland, and these two countries have been Protestants for many hundreds of years. Therefore, we end up with a rather confusing situation with a split population from two different cultural and religious backgrounds. Ireland’s history is a long story of suffering, dominance and poverty, but also one of strong people who refuse to give up and who manage to see things from humorous side in the face of hardship (in the name of the father). After most of Ireland got its freedom from The Great Britain, the northern part remained in union with England, Scotland and Wales. The difference between the two countries is that Ireland is a completely separate country and has no longer any official bond to UK. Northern Ireland, on the other hand, is still park of the UK (The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), together with England, Scotland and Wales.The conflict is primarily a social and cultural one. Religious teachings are not an issue between the Catholics and Protestants. They do not believe in different gods. Historically, the Catholics have been poor, oppressed and often unemployed. On the other hand the Protestants have represented the oppressive British side consisting of the privileges classes in society with better jobs, brighter opportunities, and better wages. So the conflict contains cultural, historical, social and religious beliefs.
