The talented director Shane Meadows creates phenomenal scenery and an interesting plot in the film ‘This is England’ and takes us on an exciting and thrilling journey back in time to the year 1983.
Here we hear the story of the lonely 12-year-old boy named Shaun. After having had yet another bad day in school Shaun runs into a group of skinheads, who takes him under their wings.
Shaun, Woody, Milky and the rest of the group are just hanging around and having a good time, but when newly-out-of-prison-guy Combo steps into their lives, things develop.
The start of the film shows what a truly great director Shane Meadows is as the first x seconds is filled with a beautifully composed montage of clips to give the viewer an idea of where we are and what’s going on in England at the moment. We see clips of the fairytale wedding of Princess Diana, rebels in conflict with the police, some of the Falkland war and Margaret Thatcher giving a speech about it.. The director shows us what is currently happening around the characters of the movie, their neighborhood, the ongoing movement and the political affairs, and provide us with the background for the events in the film.
