Filmanalyse af 'This is England'

The film is about a 12 year old boy, named Shaun. He lives with his mother, his father died in the Falklands war against the Argentineans. In school Shaun has a hard time, his is bullied by other kids, and is getting into a fight. On his way home Shaun runs into a young group of skinheads, led by Woody, who feels sorry for Shaun and takes him under his wings. Shaun finds an older brother figure in woody and falls in love with an older girl named Smell. They all have a great time, until an older skinhead, Combo comes and joins the group after a prison sentence. Combo expresses English nationalist and racist views. Combo wants to be the new leader, this leads the group several ways and they split up in two groups. Shaun follows Combo and they join an English nationalist party. Time goes and Combo sees more and more of himself in Shaun. One day Combo runs into Milky, the only black skinhead in Woody’s group, and invites him home. Milky, Combo and the rest of Combo’s group actually has a good time with Milky, but Combo suddenly loses his temper and beats Milky to unconsciousness, then Combo attacks the two white members of his group, while Shaun screams and cries. The film ends with the end of the Falkland war, and with Shaun tossing and English flag in the sea.
