What is child obesity and why has the numbers of overweight children increased, through the last ten years?

Child obesity is when you have a high BMI (body mass index) or when you are overweight as a kid, actually it is not the fat on the body that is dangerous, but more the diseases that follows if you only eat junk food and other things that is bad for your body. For example: you can eat healthy and well but then still keep on rising in weight, but that is not as big a problem as it is when you are small and skinny because then you can get a lot of diseases, if you only eat junk food and all the other bad things.

I think that the number of overweight children have been increased because the parents aren’t good to say no to their children if they are begging for candy and other kind of non-healthy food.

Actually in 2009 about 4000 young people needed medical help because they very overweight and that is actually about four times more than in 2000 very only 872 people needed hospital treatment.

Ticking time-bomb

A team led by Dr Sonia Saxena, from Imperial College in London, anlysed all statistics on admissions for obesity. Actually, the number of cases of surgery for obesity rose from just 1 in 2001 to 31 in 2009, the most of them are girls. The team analyzed in ten years, and in those ten years, a total of 20885 young people were treated in hospital for obesity related conditions.
