Invictus

Nelson mandela was selected as president in 1994 after he was released from jail, were he had served 27 years in jail for planning attacks and provide attacks against the white government. Nelson Mandela took over a country that was close on a new civil war. The black population haven’t forgot what the whites had done to them in the past many years. Many blacks thought their time had come to get revenge when Mandela was selected, and give the whites population what they had experienced the last couple of years. Mandela had not thought about getting revenge, but was instead thinking about forgiveness and how he could reunite the black and whites, it’s was not straightforward, he faced many challenges on his way.. First was it clearly for everyone that the blacks and the whites didn’t like each other. There were so deeply scars in every black people of South Africa, the many apartheid laws had suppressed them, and every black family had experience the brutality the whites had done. It’s also clearly to see in the movie where the black bodyguards denied to work with the whites bodyguards. An other example is that the blacks population is cheering for the English rugby team, when they are facing the springbooks, the team of south Africa. The blacks still felt that the springboks team colors symbolize the apartheid years. Mandela acted straight away, he needed to change the view of the colors. Mandela started met faithfully up to the rugbymatches wearing the home kit of the springbooks and arranged events where the rugby team were out meeting the black population. It helped, but there were still problems.
