Germany was hosting the Olympic games 1972, the first time since 1936 doing the holocaust.
At 4:30 a morning the 5´th of September 1972, five Arab terrorists climbed a 1,98 meter fence surrounding the Olympic Village. The five terrorists were seen by several people, they didn´t think it was weird because athletes jumped the fence from time to time.
The five Arabs had guns hidden in sport bags. The five met with three other in the Village, who had obtained identifications to enter the Village.
The terrorists used stolen keys to enter two apartments at 31 Connollystraße, the apartments were used by the Israeli team under the Olympics. Wrestling referee tried to stop the intruders by throwing his body against the door. In the heat of the moment, coach Tuvia Sokolovsky and race-walker Dr. Shaul Ladany managed to escape the terrorist. Wrestling coach Moche Weinberg attacked the terrorist while the hostages were being moved from one apartment to another, allowing wrestler Gad Tsobari to escape the terrorists, Weinberg knocked one unconscious and stabbed another one with a fruit knife, right before he got shot to death, by the other terrorists. Yossef Romano also tried to stop them, he wounded one and got killed right after.
