Valg af studieretning: drømmen om sportsjournalist

I chose this studieretning, cause of my dream being a journalist. I want to be the next big sports journalist on television, like Carsten Werge or Per Frimann. I don’t want to be a journalist writing on newspapers or websites, I want to comment or analyzing big sports events, mostly football, but also other sports. If my dream comes true, it would be great.

I talked to my school counselor in 9th grade, and he told me that the ‘Media studies – Social studies – Mathematics’ studieretning was the right for me, if I want to become a journalist. Especially media studies and social studies are excellent for a journalist education. A modern journalist is forced to have major knowledge of course in social studies, but also in technology e.g. cameras, movie-editing, cuts, compositions etc. A modern journalist is often called a ‘VJ’. VJ is the abbreviation for Video Journalist – a journalist with knowledge in both editing, recording and journalism at the same time.

When I finish the upper secondary school here in Haderslev, I want to move to Aarhus and start studying journalism on ‘Journalisthøjskolen’. My plan is to find an apartment in the city, so it’s possible for me to bike to school. The duration of ‘Journalisthøjskolen’ is 4 years, so if everything goes right, I might finish the bachelor education when I’m 23 years old. But this plan is only considered, if football doesn’t bring me contract in a club.
