In the story, we get an impression of Alex might be a psychopath, which comes from the part where we’ve been told that he keeps razor blades in his bucket. Alex is walking around the zoo, where he sees some people who is enjoying the view of the penguins playing, but unfortunately, he doesn’t like when people are happy, therefore he tries take their smiles and laughter away from them. He sees a sign, which states that anyone in the zoo aren’t allowed to toss coins to the penguins because they can die by eating them. This makes him even more tempted to throw the coins, so the penguins can die, which also would cause the people who is watching them not to be happy anymore. In the story, he sees a little kid that eats a candy bar. The little kid’s mother tells him to throw the candy peal in the bin. When the little kid decides to throw it, Alex walks after him and stands behind the kid. The kid stares at Alex and he was a little bit afraid, Alex asks the little kid if he wants a cookie and before we know it Alex pulls a knife and stab the kid, which somehow makes Alex happy. I can’t really think about why, but there must be an explanation. The kid’s mother of course panics, which causes her to not know what to do when she finds out that her little son is dying. Alex seems to love when the kid is dying, which generates a very nice feeling inside him. After the stabbing of the little kid, he also tries to play doctor to come closer to the kid, so he can see him suffer. Alex is a very evil person.
